Ok, now this 1993 940T needs inner tie rods. I would like non-china made and euro made if possible. Since even German companies have parts made in China, are there any actually made in europe? Lemforder, Meyle, MOOG? Any tips on this project would be appreciated. Thanks!


Of the many volvo I have owned, it figures that it would be this POS lemon 940 that would need new inner tie rods. Sorry for the rant but, as soon as I get one problem fixed, something else fails. Been that way since I bought it with 29000 miles on it.

I've used TRW, Moog, Lemforder, Meyle and Volvo OE inner tie rods over the years. Some are made in China (TRW), Taiwan (Moog), Germany (Meyle, Lemforder). They all perform reasonably well and easy to be installed with no weird issues. No significant difference between OE and OEM. And they all need to be replaced in about 5 to 6 years as the car is used almost daily to commute to work. Shouldn't be a tough decision to make.

Thanks! Lemforder it is!. Checked the FAQ for more info. I have the CAM rack. I confirmed that it is the inner tie rod driver side by doing as the FAQ suggest. Grabbing the inner tie rod where it meets the rack shaft while someone rapidly moves the steering wheel side to side.Unfortunately, FCP doesn't have a tie rod "kit" for the CAM rack. Thanks.

OK, I got the wrong inner tie rod ends for my car. I have the KOYO rack but didn't realize that when I ordered them. Make sure before you order, that you positively I.D. your rack.

Lemforder is OE on many Volvo front end parts for various models.

I just went to the FCP website--under "steering" they list a "kit" - complete L&R for CAM-- $277 -- Meyle brand inner tie rod for CAM - $16 and Volvo brand inner tie rod for CAM - $60 something. If your outer tie rod is good it can be installed on the new inner. All the racks use the same outer tie rod as far as I know. - Dave
