m47 front countershaft bearing exact replacement for nla bearing

all,

i did some searching for a m47 replacement bearing, volvo p/n 1209392, front countershaft bearing.

a few cross-referenced bearings can be found in europe, but most won't ship to the states.

i found an exact replacement bearing for the skf/volvo nla bearing. the replacement comes with a removable inner sleeve, and after removing it, the bearing is the same with the same dimensions: 27.5x52x15 mm3. even the number of cylinder bearing count is the same

you can cross-reference the number to get timkin, ntn, etc., but i found the nos skf bearings at good prices.

i bought a couple of nos still in plastic wrapping, of course.

skf nu304ecp

ec = increased capacity and improved roller end to flange contact.
p = injection moulded cage of fiberglass reinforced polyamide.
(from skf pdf)

specs and a couple of cross references:

hope this helps and saves time.

as dan page mentioned to me, one can go check at your local bearing house for help in finding for that and other substitutions, too. first time for me to chase down some nla bearings.

regards,
byron golden

m47 front countershaft bearing not quite exact replacement for nla bearing

for some reason, i can't edit the op.

a member of turbobricks mentioned this about the new skf substitute bearing, which i didn't know.

"FYI, the original countershaft bearing has an external clip that's not on the NU304ECP bearing. You'll need to have a groove machined in the new bearing and re-use the clip."

still learning to work on the m47.
