John Parker 120-130

Anyone have problems with getting parts you paid for, from John Parker in New York? We have sent over $4000 for parts, have gotten about 2/3 of them and now I read where he doesn't come through for people. I am very concerned. Thank you.

Count yourself one of the fortunate ones if you have received 2/3 of the value of parts ordered. From personal experience, he knows how to manipulate the Pay Pal dispute resolution mechanism. He will respond to emails requesting delivery status updates, proffering various reasons for the delays. At the point that the transaction exceeds Pay Pal's limit on dispute resolution he stops responding. Pay Pal has greatly extended the limit for initiating a dispute. It used to be something like 45 or 60 days and it now looks like 180 days which makes this modus operandi more difficult for him. If you haven't exceeded the 180 day limit, I would immediately initiate a dispute with Pay Pal for the undelivered items (or your credit card if that is what you used). If he fails to deliver the remaining items in 20 days after initiating the dispute you can initiate a claim with Pay Pal or your credit card company.

If you need parts, try these vendors:

    Hi Perf Auto
    Iroll
    CVI
    VP Auto
    Scandcar
    Skandix
    IPD

These are all specialist vintage Volvo parts suppliers that I have used and they have been reliable suppliers. There are probably others; but, I haven't used them.

I have been there, done that and didn't get the Tee Shirt - although not into him for the amount of money that you have dropped. That was about 8 years ago and it looks like things have not changed. Whenever I see someone on a forum asking about VPD products I try to point them in another direction, any other direction.

    You have my sympathies.

HOLY *$%#. Man, I wish we would have found brickboard group BEFORE we trusted this person and sent payment for parts. We have gotten most of the parts, but not all. Hope to be able to report we finally got them. Husband is building a 122s B18, the fifth one he's built. He's 69, loves his Volvo's... we got this one from it's second owner. First owner was producer of the Jefferson Airplane and had it from brand new in 1968 until 2013. My husband has prostate cancer and is suffering from three surgeries for frigging hernia mesh failure. This Volvo was my gift to him, to be part of his recovery/therapy. We order parts in good faith, pay for them and it's really pretty sickening. Where else can a person find good quality parts from a reliable source? Sorry to vent. I feel really sick after reading about the way people have been cheated and duped.

        Linda;

...I'm sorry for your experience, so don't take this wrong...maybe your judgment was clouded as you're trying to do something nice for your husband, but the trick is to research and know who you're dealing with BEFORE sending THAT kind on money...

Exactly~ you are right. That's what I said in my posts that I wish I'd read the brickboard before we did business with this person. I went through all of the posts last night, going way back. Does this person even have a "real" business location as his website leads you to believe?? Or is he just a con man sitting and reselling parts from other companies? Does he do actual work on engines, etc.? Or is he just reselling parts? This scam would make a great news story on the local television channel. I do plan on filing a complaint with the BBB, and speaking with other authorities later this month if we don't get the rest of the parts we've paid for. Anyway, enough whining. Lesson learned!

Unfortunately he's been doing this to people for years.

And because he eventually does produce the parts, he's not breaking any laws and he knows that.

Some have reported that doing business in person has produced quicker results, but of course that isn't practical for everybody and he knows that too.
