Does anyone know what type of material the original roof racks were made of? Were they painted steel, chrome, aluminum, stainless or ?? Also what type of wood was used for the slats?

After doing some additional research on the roof rack I've determined that they were made of painted steel. I needed to know in case I decide to build one for my friends wagon, and want it to be as close to original as possible. I'm also curious to see if anyone else might be interested in purchasing one, when & IF I decide to make some. If so, please respond here on BB & I'll post my email address later.
