Bell housing-1975 240 with B20 200 1975

Would anyone have a parts manual that covers the 1975 240? If so would you look up the part number for the bell housing?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Mr. Perry,

I did not want to intrude on your conversation with Eric Planetman.

There is a resource for the factory green service manuals for 1975 in English. Yet the Oz Volvo site is down. Not parts manuals. Yet these manuals in PDF do show exploded views with some part number info.

    https://ozvolvo.org/archive/

The PDF files here are named as 1975 240. Yet the site appears unavailable this morning US central time zone. Some files were from the now shuttered k-jet.org site.

There exist others sites. Dunno if helpful for your cause.

    http://www.240.se/

You want to wander around. I'm not good at Swedish anymore yet many manuals are in English.

    http://www.240.se/litteratur/service100.htm

    Also here:

    http://www.240.se/litteratur/service200.htm

See the TP nr (number) Search for Volvo and the number in the search engine. I'd use more than one search engine. In US, I find Bing is sometimes more useful than google.

I'm sure you have links to other site that may contain the info you need.

    http://www.v8volvo.se/

    Specifically:
    http://www.v8volvo.se/mekartips/volvo/index.html

    Probably not helpful.

Volvo PN 1023519 appears as an oxygen sensor for Volvo V70. Maybe a subassembly PN.

The other number you mention as Volvo 812188 (2W 812188) is unknown using Bing or Google. Volvo designed these transmissions yet Borg & Beck built these so far as I know.

Volvo Cars updated their PN schema casting out and reusing obsoleted part numbers.

    Maybe try the turbobricks website?

You may want to ask at the three large facebook pages. Some vintage questions and issues do get answered occasionally at:

Also, maybe contact Frank Ponte through facebook. Frank owned a Volvo repair business in central NJ-state and is slowly selling off his salvage parts inventory.

    Find Frank Ponte on facebook:

I hope this help. Though Eric Planetman has helped you more with actionable info. Far better than me copying and pasting web links for you.

    Questions?

    Hope that helps.

Well, you have given me a lot to look at! Thank you.

Eric has said 1023519 is not a Volvo number, and he believes 1220303 is the correct bell housing, applicable to a 240 with M45/46 transmission and a B20. Looking at GCP's pictures of such it does appear correct.

I did not know that Borg and Beck made the bell housings. That is good info. Since my 1023519 does not say VOLVO on it, I wonder if it might have been for a different make.

If Borg and Beck is still in business, I might be able to ask them, sung the other number in there -- 1W 812 214, and the date stamp - 1975.

fyi...I had 75 245 with a B20--a that was how they were equipped...the first of the 240 body styles, but still using the guts of the 140. It came with either a M40(the 4spd) or the M41(the M40with and OD)

        (I also own a 1980 B21 w/M45 4spd.)

As far as I know M45/46 came matted to the B21 Overhead cam engine -- from 1976 on ---the actually begining of the pure 240 line.

You did not say much more about the tranny you have. There a big diff between the M40 and the M45 at the front end of each. By that I mean the Splines on the shaft that fits into the fly wheel(the driven shaft), the clutch, and so the flywheel itself.

If the B20 you have did not have a M45 already attached - you are looking at more than a diff BellHousing to put one on now.

Hopefully that link will work. If not go to. and use pull down(OWNER) choose Owners Manuals and the use that pull down to choose year and model.

I have figured out that I am looking at the bell housing for a 1975 240 with an M45/6 transmission and B20. The part number is 1220303.

If anyone has one for sale I am interested.

Right. Thanks. Seems like it takes a long time for the parts manual to load.

just ran across your other thread ---- so you are way out of my league.

Re: OZ site...it is from DownUnder..the main page links to the Club website. I choose to DownLoad the PDF to a file, waiting for it to come into a browser --- I've never bothered.

                https://ozvolvo.org/

You might want to grab all the PDF Greenbooks off that site you can --- batch dnload them They may be the last source on the Internet for those files.

I've done that for all the Volvos I have. In your other postdiscussion with planetman -- 1800s...those Greennbooks are all in that archive.
