t5 tranny in a pv544, shifter position

I want to put a 5-speed in a PV544.

What I want is the shifter to be in the original position. I thought I once saw a T5 topcover with a forward shifter.

An m41 requires tunnel modification, so I may as well use a T5 or T9. The t9 adapter requires removing the bellhousing to remove it, If I ever have to, and T5's are much more common.

Or will it line up correctly? I put a t5 in my 145 but that was a long time ago and was sold.

    t5 tranny in a pv544, shifter position

My son has a mid-90's Chevy S10 pickup with a T5 tranny. That shifter goes directly into the gearbox unlike the Camaro T5 I am using from a Camaro in my Oldsmobile 215 V8 powered 245. That shifter falls exactly in the right spot for the 245 with the V8 motor located just as the B230 4 cylinder sits. I think the S10 gearbox is what you should look at for the 544 (or 122 as well). - Dave
