1993 940 Sedan T-Boned and Need Help Straightening Rear Door Hinge Pillar Mount 900 1993

My daughter was T-boned in September. The other car hit her on the left rear door and driver door. The doors are both destroyed. The front driver's door opens and latches so the pillar where the front door latch seems like it is not bent much or not at all. I have doors for the car but the pillar between the doors, lower rear door hinge mount, looks like it is bent in 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The upper hinge looks okay looking at the top of the window fit with the body but the rear door will not open. I put a 2-ton come-along on the lower front edge of the door by the hinge and just moved the car when I pulled with the come-along. Is there a way to anchor the car on the side and then use the 2-ton come-along to try and pull out the hinge mount? I have a tractor to pull on the car and trees to use as an anchor also but don't want to do more damage anchoring the car. Where would a collision/body shop anchor the car?
Any ideas on the best way to pull the bottom of the rear door by the wiring boot out with the intent of straightening the the bottom hinge mount out 1/4 or 1/2 inch? No heat can be used since there is wiring in the pillar.
I would really like to repair this car. It is only driven in the Summer here in MN and has never seen salt. I have driven the car since the accident and it drives fine so the uni-body seems to not be out of alignment from the accident.
I will quit rambling.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Dear jd620,

Hope you're well. Has the repair been done and does the door close as it did when factory-new?

All the Best for the Holidays and 2020!

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

      Hi Spook,
Happy Holidays to you and the other Brickboard folks?
I haven't done anything to the car yet, too cold here in MN. I plan on re-assessing my options next Spring. In the meantime, I am looking for non-turbo 940 sedans, 1993-1995, that are relatively rust free.

I have two 1992 Volvo 940 GLs for sale ($500.oo each). Both motors don't run. One maybe running with a little effort. Would you consider swapping motors, i.e., your '93 into the '92? Both bodies are accident free. I also have a 1988 Volvo 240 DL ($500.00). I cleaned the PVC box on the motor and it sounded the best since I bought it. Before I cleaned the box, the motor developed a serious oil leak. The oil leak maybe simple. I would have to investigate more.

Thanks for the post. Assuming the 1993 has spent it's life in S.C., it is probably rust free which is a plus. The bad thing, in my opinion, is that the A/C is R12, unless converted, and the cost of shipping it to MN? I do have 3 good engines from junkers (2-93s and 2-94s) that would fit right in. All are Regina.

    Dear jd620,

Hope you're well. I agree with Amarin: while 1/4" to 1/2" may not seem like much, it will take a "frame machine" to pull the center pillar back to where it was, when it left the factory.

I infer the car did as it was engineered to do: protect your daughter, when she needed it. So, the cost of straightening the frame is trivial.

Those - who have "frame machines" - have the factory specifications and know how to secure the car, so the hydraulic rams move only the part(s) needed.

This is one of those tasks that has to be done with exactly the right tools by those deeply-experienced in their use. If so, once the repair has been done, it will be invisible.

As the car is driveable, find a body shop with a "frame machine" and describe what needs to be done. I'd guess the cost will be under $500. That's a small price for an uninjured daughter and for being able to use a car, that you know well.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Sorry to what happened. This body repair channel mostly deals with European cars. Just to give some idea about needed tools. Middle pillar pushed in 1/4" to 1/2" might not seem much but I think straightening may need a body shop given the toughness of Volvo metal. Good luck!

    Amarin.

Thanks for the video. It makes the repair to T-boned 940 we have look like a simple fix.
