New server, finally

The last time I built the server, it was 2008 and AWS was relatively new. Nearly 12 years!

This server is faster, cheaper, more supportable. It also permits me to make some much needed improvements.

Please be patient if you're seeing errors. I'm monitoring when I can, but it's always helpful to send a report to me with URL.

Note that I'm aware of the trouble with RSS. I'll work on that in the next couple of weeks.

-Jarrod

      You tambien.

The "show my exhibits" feature doesn't work for me either. If I scroll to one of my pictures I can click [SHOW ALL] next to my name to bring up all of my images in that particular picture type category.

That IS the same problem as the username issue. Weird bug that I can work around. Forget how I zapped it before. It misbehaves when used in a hyperlink (a href).

Thank you. Thank you for using it. It's a fair trade for sure. I get to play with tech and all of the users get to stay in touch.

Tech is a weird meditation for me that I've been cursed/blessed with since about 12.

    New server, finally

I don't know if this is the right place to report it, but I usually go through a thread by clicking the > button and when I click it at the last message, the >> button flashes. Now it doesn't flash. Also, in the editor, after USERNAME, it says "Logged in as." then nothing.

The > button now shows flashing >> at the end of the thread, but when I reply, it still shows "Logged in as ." with no username. Not that I don't know I'm logged in, of course.

On the plus side, now I'm always getting email notification when I've checked the box, whereas previously it hit and miss.

I got it working again, but it conflicts with the tool that downloads a number of other things. So I disabled it again.

This was a bit of magic that is very nice. I need some time to do it with the new tool (javascript framework).

Forgot about that feature. I switched to a new framework for fetching messages. I should be able to add that back until the rest is switched though.

    Fixed the RSS problem.

It's all looking pretty damn good now. Fast as hell, and the cookie/session stuff seems to be all working great.

Begs the question ... why not offer your forums software for others as we all love it so much?

An idea-r.... yet too much bother for a very busy you.

          Thank you Mr. Stenberg.

Oh, and when I click the , the confirmation opens loads in the same tab alone. Before, confirmation blinked the thumb you chose in the same window.

I'm definitely thinking of some updates that could be quite scalable.

As I've probably said many times, I still swear by the threaded model. And now that I'm revisiting some of my work, I think some of the features are very pleasant compared to other forums. I think many of the huge forums are due for replacement. I still like to dream big and appreciate the encouragement.

Thanks for this! I used to be web admin on the antique outboard forum and we used software that let you do a tree structure - folks went away from that and it was a nice thing to have.

I appreciate the work it takes to keep the site going!

Agree wholeheartedly that the "threaded model" is so much more pleasant to interact with. So much better than sifting through pages of side topics within a single post.

Thank you for keeping the dream alive.
