940 N/A wagon rough running 900

Hi all,
Just started encountering a strange problem. I have a 1993 940 n/a Regina wagon. Thought I had a bad plug wire but it turned out to be screw on cap came off in the boot. Picked up wires/plugs at the local parts store and found out the cap was stuck in boot. Wire looked good so I used the old ones as the new one would not seat into the Regina distributor well. I used old wires, put in new NGK plugs and changed air filter.
Now when car is in park it idles decent but when in drive and engine is under load idle is erratic and it seems like I have a miss at idle and at speed. If engine is revved in park there is no miss and it sounds fine. Checked and I don't think I knocked off a vacuum line but can hear a slight hissing sound. Car ran fine before I messes with it other that loose plug lead. Ant idea what I should check next?
Thank you,
Joel

The first thing I would do is swap in new OEM genuine Volvo spark plug wires. And probably Volvo plugs too. Yes, pricey, but it makes a difference.

You may have an errant short in the wire system.

Hissing may be a vacuum line off... ??? Check the vac line to the fuel regulator.

    Good luck.
