The valvoline is almost half the cost of the mobil 1. The last time I did a flush ( using ipd setup) was 9 years ago ,approx 50 k miles. Now I am thinking of doing the procedure again. So , any negatives regarding the Valvoline fluid?

    The Valvoline Syn will be fine. Synthetic ATF did not exist when your brick was built and it is far superior than what it was built to run on.

    I would not drop the pan like the other poster suggested. Volvo issued a TSB many years ago saying it is not necessary.
