140 & 160 Clutch Pedal Assembly 140-160

Is the clutch pedal assembly from a 140 the same as a 160?
I know the clutch pedal itself is different since the part that attaches the cable is rotated 90 degrees but is the assembly the same besides that? Meaning that it bolts right in and could be modified for a 160?
Thanks!

Hello,

I won't say that you can or can't.

The part numbers for the pedal brackets and brake pedals are not the same between the 140 and 164.

However, there are a lot of body parts that are the same between the 2 so it might be possible to make it fit, but expect to make some modifications.

All 164 firewalls look the same to me. There is at least 3 different firwall/transmission tunnels in various 140 models if that helps.

My RWD 164's have a hydaylic clutch with half the thow of the 140 cable arrangements, feels a bit like a truck. The slave cylinder sits low underneath the bellhousing & looks like it could be knocked off if I went up the wrong dirt road. I'd like the LHD cable version, the bellhousing has the place for it, the tranny tunnel has the big lump in it to fit your hands, but I'd need the cable clutch fork shaft and an awfully long clutch cable to do that. Concentric thowout assemblies are getting cheap, that might be the way to go.

On the 140, there is a single bracket on which the steering column, brake pedal and clutch pedal are mounted. There is no separate bracket for the clutch pedal.

Post #319 shows a photo of the combined brake, clutch & steering column bracket which I think is significantly different from what I remember of the 164 assembly.
