My bread clips fell out 200 1993

The bread clips worked great for about 6 months but they fell out. I learned the bread clip trick on a YouTube video where you shim out the three lugs on the AC clutch. However, I guess he and the fact that they are plastic we're not a permanent solution. I refuse to pull the clutch apart because I don't have the skill nor the enthusiasm but if anyone has a better idea than the bread clips I'd love to hear it because my AC works wonderfully with an operational clutch and doesn't work at all without it.

Thanks for your thoughts, you paragraph Marquis

I used small zip ties on the AC clutch of an '01 v70. That was about 4 years ago, and I've since sold the car to a friend, but as far as I know, the AC still works.

Maybe your clutch is worn out to the point that a single-thick bread clip doesn’t fit tight enough to stay in place. What about epoxying the bread clips, or same gauge sheet metal, in place?

      Thanks Chris,

The bread clips lasted for quite a while with the adhesive and apparently we're just the proper thickness. Think I'll take your advice and use some jb weld next time.
Plus I'll probably use the expensive bread clips next time

I substituted aluminum sheet metal for plastic bread clips, layered to get a good gap. I just used waterproof glue after I adjusted the clutch gap to .010

        JBWeld sounds a bit overkill.

I’m starting to have a VERY occasional A/C no-cool. Usually when sitting and idling after a long drive. I’m measuring .035 gap. What is the desired gap?
