1993 wagon Steering Rack 900

Hello again,
I am looking to purchase a new steering rack for my 1993 wagon and found that there some 940s us a ZF/CAM rack and some are KOYO ???, is there an easy way to tell which rack my car has? Can I tell by the VIN number?
Thank you.

Dear Griff951,

Hope you're well. To Amarin's characteristically helpful answer, I add that TRW and CAM racks are identical. KOYO racks were made in Japan.

The steering rods (tie rods) on TRW/CAM racks are identical, as between the right and left sides. KOYO steering rods are side-specific, i.e., the right and left steering rods do not interchange.

Based on BB posts, it seems that ZF racks are the exception for 83 and later 940s sold in North America.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Look at the product plate on top of the headlight. S=1:Koyo, 2: CAM, 3:ZF, 4:TRW. The VIN number doesn't contain any info regarding steering rack.

Amarin.
