MAP tubing on a Regina 740 700

Hi all. 1990 740 NA rex/regina:

I'm new to Regina, and to MAP sensors. I'm trying to get this car into better working order, and there is a rough transition from idle to off-idle. It's like a delay when you open the throttle, even though the TPS is adjusted and working. The engine hesitates substantially, and then revs after a split second of the throttle being open, unless it's opened very slowly. I haven't dug into it too deeply, but the tubing for the MAP sensor (mounted on the driver strut tower) was clear vinyl and seemed definitely wrong to me. I have a suspicion that the tubing is very important for this sensor.

What type of tubing is OEM? I've seen mention of 90-degree elbows. I'm imagining some 90-degree rubber elbows and that semi-rigid small-orifice plastic tubing - sort of like what's used on the heater vent.

Does anyone have a photo of theirs if it's the original line?

Thanks!
Can't wait to get back behind the wheel of a brick :)

ANSWER MAP tubing on a Regina 740 700

Found it! I called a local dealership.

It is indeed hard tubing with rubber elbows like you see on original lines to heater control valves.

Volvo PN 967563 superseded to 949120 and a length of 750mm or ~29.5".

    Cheers

Well. That was a waste of time. The superseded part is nothing more than thick wall rubber tubing.

I bought some generic rubber 90-degree elbows, and will be buying some nylon tubing instead. I found 50 feet of it at Grainger for only $10 and change.

    MAP tubing on a Regina 740 700

I can’t recall what type of vacuum tubing was used for the MAP on our long-gone 740 Regina. Theoretically, anything that doesn’t collapse or melt would be OK. But also consider it might be the MAP itself that has gone bad. If you do a web search for its part number you’ll find that the same one was used on various GM cars so it should be easily sourced at a reasonable price.

I have a new MAP sensor here ready to go. I wouldn't be surprised if it had gone bad, but I figure that the wrong tubing is going to be a problem either way.

I was reading some posts about someone trying to adapt a remote MAP sensor on some other car, and the signal was all over the place because of the tubing they used being too soft.

Will, the Regina I worked on 15 years ago had a clear nylon (not vinyl) tubing connecting the MAP sensor to the manifold. Yes, it is important the inside of the tube not change dimension much as the vacuum rises.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
