I don't have detail knowledge of the technology but I would think the hardware would have to be integrated into the existing black boxes. Any seperate add-on hardware could be easily by-passed.

My key won't go into the ignition and I'm looking for a way not to take the steering column out to replace the key core with another 26 year old worn out part!

It shouldn't be difficult to isolate the + wire to the ignition switch through a hidden on/off switch. I'd use a push button switch made for "marine" use for the starter solenoid. -- Dave
