Yesterday at the supermarket in the pouring rain, one or both of the dampers on my 87 wagon decided it was time to give-up-the ghost...'we are done after 32yrs of holding this weight'
Had to hold it up with my head.

    in the mailbox today. Only needed one - the drivers side one.
    So I got a spare.

      hi cb,
      what i do is replace with the new parts and keep the old, good ones as spares, with stuff like that.

      use the new parts first, i would say.

      i always think better use the new one now because it may be totaled later.

    It only takes one to fail for the hatch to drop. On my parts wagons I install mechanical struts with a catch. I think they came from 145's. Harder to lift with only one gas strut but no worries that my head will get bonked. - Dave
