Site Changes

Making some changes to drive down cost.

If you can't reach the site, try removing https from the URL.

I'm pretty sure it's all set up right, but can't be certain yet. Changing these records takes time to roll through the system, so I'll just have to wait and see.

Also, email seems to need some attention as well. I'll get that going by tonight.

Jarrod, just a heads-up to let you know that when I type a b for brickboard the address line shows up with a "warning" that it's an unsecured site and I couldn't get past that notice. As it happens a second address for one of the pages was in the 'drop down" and that got me here. Yes, I am almost totally computer illiterate :-( -- Dave

I just type letter "b" in my Firefox URL and https://www.brickboard.com/RWD/ is the first thing than pops up and works, like it always has. Just for a brief period yesterday I got a blank screen.

These work:
https://www.brickboard.com
http://www.brickboard.com

https://brickboard.com doesn't. I need to forward those to the www address. I'll try to fix that now.

Hi Jarrod,

So site data gets encrypted to and from the cloud storage?

Or you've opted to turn off the secure http (https TLS 1.2) option as part of the cloud service?

Cloudfront is an Amazon service! D'oh. I though Cloudfront was its own business.

I've applied for technical writer jobs at the large data centers in cheapo electricity WA-state and nearby places. I can write and illustrate all the facilities stuff, build data cage rack config builds, and document ground, power, power back up, illustrate the physical and logical data networks, and disaster recovery / continuity. Hoped to do so for the Bonneville Power Administration.

The network doc tools have moved forward at warp speed meaning SysOps and Admins do not need the writer much any more.

I read Cloudfront is a value compared to Akami and, well, I dunno other services? Yahoo or Google or Microsoft?

Maybe ask Cloudfront to run adverts to lower your hosting costs? Or maybe a static banner, button, or zipple thingy on some primary pages or all of them if it helps.

"Cloudfront Proudly Hosts Brickboard.com!"

"Cloudfront, an Amazon Web Service, Proudly Hosts Brickboard.com!"

"Brickboard.com is proudly hosted by Cloudfront, an Amazon Web Service!"

Maybe have another look at your copyrights and hold harmless so OvLov corp continues to ignore us and your brickboard.com. It appears fine as is. I'm no content provider, tho.

Maybe ad your advert schema to the new post, read post thread, and reply to post pages. I know Swedish Baklava may balk at the notion.

Sorry to go on. Hope that helps.

What can we do to drive more to your brickboard.com?

I sent an email to Rob Bareiss (Aye Roll, last post in 2015).

Rob is the admin this facebook group:

Volvo 240, 740 and 940 owners club

https://www.facebook.com/groups/23765538560/

17,7xx members. I sent Rob a PM with a link to your "Site Viability" post. He ignored or changed to unread the PM I sent.

I'd been trying to drive them here for the misinformation on these facebook sites since 2011 or ealier. These sites can be helpful to some, yet are usually an echo chamber of incomplete or misinformation and perpetuating the mythos an unloved, neglected, abused RWD Volvo goes on and on.

I see your post in the opinions section. I'll reply their. Feel better to have a job in addition to updating the FAQ. Though have tried and failed to begin a 200 series FAQ in the prior decade period.

Thank you.

I noticed that this morning.
Googled "brickboard" and linked in that way. Smooth sailing from there.
