Will this wheel fit my 93 900 1993

I am in need of a spare tire. Not sure if it was stolen or I misplaced it while cleaning or whatever. The salvage yard has a 15 inch wheel off of a 96 940 wagon.
Will that wheel fit my 93 940 wagon? I thought I had read that the offsets may be different, but not sure. Any help appreciated.

    Dear Dom's940,

Hope you're well. Volvo did not market 940s in the U.S. after 1995. Thus, I can't be sure about the black steel wheels used on later 940s. But I'd guess that the same part (#1387534) was used in later years of the 940, wherever sold. A wheel from a 960/V90/S90 will not interchange, so far as I know.

Be sure that the steel wheel's circumferential openings are circular (round), not "square". Round openings mean the wheel is full-service. The "square" openings mean the wheel is the limited-service unit.

Any factory-original tire mounted on a limited-service wheel is not safe to use, by virtue of its great age. Even if a factory-original limited-service spare tire looks perfect, do not - under any circumstances - use it. It can fail suddenly and so catastrophically. Rubber degrades with time, and a 20+ year-old tire is a time-bomb.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Thanks Spook, good advice which I will heed in my ongoing search for this elusive wheel. Would like to get the original spare wheel 15x4.5 but tough to find. will keep my eye on ebay and keep checking the salvage yards in Jersey. Its Volvo heaven up that way. funny though, very few 940's anywhere. I had much better luck finding parts for my 240 wagon a few years back than i have had with this 940. Anyways appreciate your input, always welcomed, stay safe.

        Dear Dom's 940,

Hope you're well. A full-size, full-service spare tire fits nicely in the storage compartment under the load space of a wagon. I'd guess the same is true as to a sedan.

Thus, there's no need to try to find the limited-service wheel. Further, any that you might find at a salvage yard are likely to be time-expired, i.e., lethally dangerous to use.

Any good used full-service steel wheel - on which is mounted a serviceable full-size tire - will suffice.

If, however, you definitely want the limited-service spare tire, it is Part #9434374. At a U.S.-based Volvo dealer, this item costs about $260.00.

        Hope this helps.

        Yours faithfully,

        Spook

Hi Dom's 940, Franke Ponte in New Jersey used to or still owns a service and used (salvage) parts place. He advertises parts here on the brickboard ClassAds:

        https://www.brickboard.com/CLASSADS/index.htm?id=16851

And here at his facebook page, he posts to the "Volvo 240 fan club"

        https://www.facebook.com/frank.ponte1

You may want to call around to the salvage yards that feature imports as they can locate remote parts and ship by freight to the local junkyard. Maybe the local VCOA club? (Volvo Club of America).

740 series had 15" steelies. 940 maybe had 15" and (?) 16" steelies. You can ask about space saver spare wheels.

You could also ask at the facebook group pages. Each has around 20k members. You have to log in and join the group.

        Hope that helps.
