Are AGM batteries ill advised for my 945T?

I was told the technology of AGM’s is not exactly compatible with my 940 and I should have bought a wet cell battery.

Opinions please

You might rephrase your question to have some reference to AGM batteries. You might get more input that way.

You do need a special charger for AGM, they cost a good bit more than lead acid and are warranted for the same time frame. If I find one at the junk yard I will give it a try!

If the battery is internal (under the seat, in the back) then I always use AGM batteries. If it is in the engine bay then I go with cheaper lead acid (normal) batteries.

Assuming you purchased a quality AGM battery, it should last you a very long time.

Oh, opinions?

Mine is you gave it an upgrade and you'll be happy with it.

Dave Barton has some experience to share as well here http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=346575

It goes without saying I'm interested in the argument against it and willing to learn something.

Thank you Art for your kind reply.
This recent issue for me arose out of my 2 year old, Group 47 AGM battery, going nearly dead (4.7 volts) overnight from an apparent Bosch alternator (100 amp.) malfunction.
The engine was stone cold, but the alternator was found to be warm to touch, and there was a slight burning of the insulation on the blue ground wire at the alternator lug.
This is the original Bosch alternator to my ‘94, and has been rebuilt twice in 400k miles, by a trusted auto electric rebuilder with no issues.
My rebuilder made a comment to me about the “compatibility” of a Volvo, designed at the time for a wet cell battery, using AGM technology.
I got the AGM battery replaced gratis and am having the alternator completely gone through again.
I’ll pin this guy down on his source of information about my ‘94 not being the best candidate for an AGM and let you know.
It sounded like a subject a little off the beaten path for us BrickBoarders.
I’ll let you all know what his opinion was based on.
Thanks again.
John
