Installing 123 Ignition and Bosch Red Coil 1800 1966

Hello,

I have a 1966 P1800 with a B20B. I have purchased the 123 Distributor and Bosch Red Coil. The coil that is installed has the armored cable. I have access to the + wire inside of cable and I understand that it goes to + on top of the coil. My question is about ground. How was the original coil grounded? Was it via the armored cable?

Jeff

    Jeffery;

    Ignition coil is mounted to chassis (but this is not a current carrying path) and coil primary is grounded though Ign Points which are the primary coil current carrying path.

      Thanks. That is the conclusion I came too as well. It is nice to have confirmation. Now I need to figure out the best way to mount the new coil. Looks like I will have to fabricate a plate to cover the hole.

    Bosch Red is 1.5 ohm. 123 normally uses 3 ohm so Bosch Blue. Red will overheat I think. BEWARE and check with the 123 guys.
