My auxiliary air valve is not closing completely. Still can compensate with the air screw, but wondering if anyone has come up with an alternate for this. Guess I could block off the coolant port and rig some sort of cable-controlled air shutter. But that would require a bit of post-startup fiddling around with every cold start.
My unit is relatively new, mileage wise. Don't suppose there's any maintenance that can be done of these to get them back to operating properly, e.g. full closure.

    Was able to Pwork aroundP the OEM AAV by wiring in a Normally closed electric air/water valve from ebay(about US$8) using the same hoses. Had an old Volvo 140 flasher switch that I rigged on the dash panel to use like a manual “choke”. Pull the switch(lights up when ON) to open the new AAV and turn off the switch when engine is warmed up.

    If you are moderately competent at coding C, the combination of something like a Teensy, Arduino or Trinket plus a TIP 122 power transistor and a 3 wire Bosch idle air valve will work just fine for idle air control on the B20E. I have a 2 wire Bosch idle air valve that I yanked off of a 740 at a pick and pull that cost me $5. I control it via a modified Megasquirt fuel injection system; but the cost of a Trinket and a TIP 122 to run it stand alone would be less than $10. The largest amount of work is fabricating a bracket to mount the idle air valve and the plumbing to hook it up to the two ports on the B20E intake manifold.
