1993 240 Wagon Inaccurate Gas Gauge 200 1993

My gas gauge shows 1/4 tank of gas, but I've run out of gas twice at that level.
The needle seems to float around a little +- 1/8 of a tank.
After I fill the tank (top off), the needle doesn't quit reach the top showing a totally full tank.
Any advice would be appreciated.

i would suspect your fuel sender is hanging up and not dropping as the gas level falls

Yes, I'd be curious to see what (other than technician error) could result in the float arm hanging. I've always found them quite free.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
