    Needle nose pliers?

Connect the cable at the pedal end BEFORE connecting at the clutch arm end.

there is no straight shot. I removed instrument cluster, I can't believe it this hard just to get the pin in. Getting frustrated.

I would have said as Chris Mullet suggested -- needle nose pliers. Harbour Freight carries a cheap small vise grip set--one is a needle nose.
If that doesn't get you there you may need to go from underneath. If the '92 has an airbag--disconnect battery and remove the lower bolster -- if it doesn't -- remove the felt lower cover. I used to be able to squeeze into the gap between the seat and door opening - but alas - no more. The seat comes out with 2 bolts in the rear and 2 nuts in front. -- Dave

Thanks all, I finally got it, just a big PITA. Removed steering wheel so I could get my hands in there. I just couldn't get it from bottom. I guess I am to overweight and not flexible enough. I just wonder how much longer I can keep on working on these things.

Ooh, I wish you hadn't written that because it brings to mind another question: If I don't work on my 240, who will?

A couple of weeks ago, I went to see the best indie foreign car guy I know. Oh, he was at the garage, all right, but he was just hanging out lavishing some love on his collector cars. He told me he's been retired for more than a year. I couldn't even get him to give me an estimate for a small claims action.

Gertrude Stein said, "We are always the same age inside." I say, never look in a mirror and keep on truckin'.

A few of us around here are asking the same question.

            Glad to hear you succeeded.

Hope you coated the cable with grease or some kind of lube before sheather insertion.

Your clutch cable broke? You replaced with new cable or both cable and sheath?
