240 1989 headlight assembly 200 1989

Hi
I'm in Australia.
I have renovated the headlight and re-chromed the reflector shell.
Have new nylon headlight adjustors / connectors.
There 3 - 1 non-adjusting, 2 adjusting the light-beam throw.
The nylon connector clamps/snaps over the end/top of the screw-in adjustors.

How do I snap the white nylon adjustor to the top of the adjustor screw - is it just a very tight fit or is there a particular way to do this simply?

TIA
Mick O'C

    240 1989 headlight assembly 200 1989

    Hi,

Well it took me a couple days to end up in my loft to take a look into the two sets of headlights that fits my 1986 wagon and up through to the 1993 240's.

I do not see any white connectors on my adjusting screws. They have a white end cap that you can use with your fingers to turn or insert a wrench into. I believe it was an Allen head in that plastic tip.

If your car is like ours and not European, you should have a back support plate that mounts onto the front braces of the front end.
This black support plate has metal threaded and knurled inserts molded into those selected push point areas. Each support is left or right or a mirror image of the other one. Likewise only those used for right and left have the appropriate insert for each headlight.

The adjustment screws feed through them and fit into pockets on the back of the gray headlight.
A wire clip fits through a slot cut of that protruding post pocket and grabs into a groove on the end of the screw.

Check back and tell us if you have any European configuration and a picture would help for those who are familiar with them.

    Phil
