Dear Fellow Brickboarders,

Hope you're well. I am pleased to report - thanks to a suggestion from "Mila" - that there is a US supplier of stainless steel cat-back exhaust system kits for 940s (normally-aspirated).

This US-based firm is: Viva Performance ( http://www.vivaperformance.com/ ). Viva is based in Nashua, New Hampshire.

A standard kit for a 940 - front muffler, over-axle pipe and rear muffler with tail-pipe attached - goes for $725, inclusive of shipping (in US Northeast).

A standard kit - that lasts about four years in a harsh environment - costs about $170 for the parts. Given the installation cost - in cash or time/sweat - the stainless kit seems like a fair deal.

    Is that a Swedish Ferrita SS exhaust? They do not have a listing on their website for it but that seems to be the brand one they use.

      Dear spasske,

      Hope you're well. I asked Ferrita if they could supply a stainless cat-back kit for a 940 (non-turbo). They said the kit for a 940 with a normally-aspirated engine is "Part No. VOK94002" and referred me to VIVA, the Nashua, NH firm. Thus, I presume that Ferrita won't ship from Sweden.

      That makes sense: the box is big and heavy. Sweden's postal service limits box weight to 44 pounds (20 Kilos), so two boxes might be required.

      Even if not so, postage will approximate $230.00, making the total ($465 [kit] + 230 [postage] = $695), or about the same as if the kit were bought from the U.S. supplier.

      Dear Spasske,

      Hope you're well. I do not think so. The item for which you provided a link will fit a car with a turbo-equipped engine.

      The kit, to which I refer, is for a car with a normally-aspirated (non-turbo) engine.
