On a 1994 940 there should be an oxygen sensor??Shouldnt there?? 900

There is a 94 bse regina wagon Im taking parts off of..& I looked for the Oxy sensor coming up on the passenger side but didnt see it,,?? It was really hot & I was too busy to getting the ac parts out,,,track down where the wires where. Are any built w w out an oxysensor??/\

Once before I realized how easy it was to replace the header myself,I paid some dimwits at Meineke to do it,,& the jerk forgot to take the plug out of the new header & install the oxy senor in it~~ !! The damn $200 sensor was dragging on the ground & my car kept running shitty for 2 weeks till the cat was finally plugged up before I realzed wha the jerks had done

The Oxygen sensor on the Volvo 940 Regina is not on the downpipe that comes off the exhaust manifold. It is further back the exhaust pipe about halfway between the front and rear wheels. I believe it is mounted on the intake end of the catalytic converter. Looking underneath the car from the drivers car you should be able to see it. It is not hidden from view.

thats what I thought,,,Maybe that is why the junker car got sent to the junkyard ,,some nitwit thought an Oxy could just be left off when the downpipe was replaced,,I think I buy the tranny & engine for a spare!!

Dear Blindboy,

Hope you're well. Yes. Removal/disconnection of the oxygen sensor should cause the "Check Engine Light" to light-up.

On 940s (normally-aspirated), the oxygen sensor is mounted in the catalytic converter.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

If U.S. spec car, yes, there would have been an OEM O2 sensor unless someone removed it.

Yes, I’d be shocked if a U.S. car came w/o one. Believe O2 sensors were either required or in general use beginning sometime in the 80’s??
