Replacing a b280f with a b280e? 700 1987

Hello,

Our 760 project is advancing! We got a good offer from a volvo-fan and mechanic to buy a b280e engine with just a couple km, to replace our 'worn-out' b280f. As far as I know, the b280e was designed to run without catalytic converter, it also has some other minor differences (e.g. compression).

Did anyone ever replace a b280f with a b280e? 1:1? Is that possible, in a car with all the b280f cables + ECU?

Thanks for any help!

ian

off the top off my head-no. the ecus are different because of higher compression and o2 sensors. get the harnesses and ecu, also. it will bolt up, just won't run right. good luck, chuck.
