still looking for a 544 (1962 - 1965) hood or hood brace.

This is the only Volvo site I visit. Are there other sites I can visit to look for this part ?

    You might try eBay - VCOA - Volvospeed - Matthews Volvo site - Erie VOVO

    Do a search for Volvo sites - some site might have a list.

    Look at SHOPS on this site

    A good welding shop could fabricate a hood brace that does not look stock, but does the job. As Eric has mentioned, attaching a bracket to the hood would be a big bugaboo.

    I could see a good customizing shop using a set of 740 hinges to make a front opening hood - note, 740 hinges have a feature that allows the hood to be opened to 90 degrees.

    In both of the previous suggestions, having 4 carriage-style bolts on top of the hood would not look really bad.

    If you search Google for 544 hoods, you can see a blue 544 that has a different hinge system than my '64 544, this system looks easy to attach to your hood. Perhaps you can locate the owner to get some dimensions.

    There are even people who have attached the hood to the fenders, and tilted the whole assembly forward.

      Thank you. Working at the shop from around 6:30am to 8 to 9pm and tending to my 92 year old father in law does not leave much time to search. Maybe making one will be the answer.
      today is help day from my sis in law so I can search for part or hood.

      I truly appreciate your help.

        Ray - www.ClassicVolvoRestoration.com has NEW sheet metal parts and patch panels, but I didn't see any hoods or hood brackets.

        Susquehanna Spares may have what you need. Also, Grab a copy of Hemmings Motor News - available at Barnes & Noble, and some grocery or drug stores - and look under Volvo Parts - there are a couple of dismantlers listed that have PV 544/444 parts cars.

          I have exhausted all of the sources I could find. Never heard of Susquehanna Spares. I will check them out. I think I will make a bracket if I cannot source one.
