Sway bars 444-544

I was finally going to gather parts for a suspension rebuild next winter. I just found out ipd doesn’t stock sway bars for 544’s any longer. Is there another source? P&TY

    Jerry,

back in 2009, I installed everything money can buy from ipd, including all of the blue suspension bushings, Bilstein shocks, and the sway bars front and rear.

While the front sway bar is a god-sent in regard to handling, I cannot recommend the rear sway bar. After months of testing, mine is now set up very loose, and that helped a lot. In long freeway sweepers, I just stay on the gas like I did it in auto racing way back when, and the car trails like it's on rails (older Vredestein 165-15 front and 185/70-15 out back) without any body roll to report. Buy the front one, and call it a day.

Thanks, I have been researching online. All opinions agree that the front sway bar is among the best modifications for a PV. However the rear one receives mixed reviews mainly leaning towards no. So I am planning on the front only. Is there any other modifications I should make besides a rebuild? I am looking for enthusiastic driving not for racing.

Have you replaced ALL the suspension bushings, front and rear ?
One safety modification I have seen recommended is to replace the rear axle shafts with 5 bolt Mustang shafts shortened to fit - this is a legal mod for SCCA,
as the tapered axles have been known to have the hubs break off, causing the loss of the rear wheel.... One can usually find a 4wd shop that can shorten and re-spline axle shafts.

Check out ADDCO. They don't list it for 544 but might have patterns and could possibly make to order. You might have to order 5 though...………………..

Sorry to say that we don't have the bars available at the moment for the PV series. I am pushing for us to bring them back, but there's a number of factors involved.

If you track down a bar, we can still get you the mounting hardware for it.
