Timing Advice: Mildly Modified B18D with B20 Ignition 444-544

Hi everyone, again.

Before I dig deeper into my fuel starvation issues, (fixed lower half of fuel pump and will be doing upper part soon), I'm curious to hear some timing recommendations for my setup:

B18D
K cam
0.040 overbore
Bosch JFU4 0231170085 dizzy
twin SUs
stock everything else

Thanks!

What you looking to get is 32-34° total when you rev it up to 3500, 10°@idle will get you there with most distributors. Did you increase the compression or is it still low? If it's low and you are using low octane, the stock curve is OK. Depenending on compression and octane, you can speed up the curve and get to maximum total timing sooner and find a little more in the 2000-3500 range. And like Michael said, no vacuum advance or retard.

The engine at the time of its rebuild had a 155-155-155-155 compression. I did a dry compression test the other day and it was about 150-150-150-150+ on an almost fully warm engine. I think the engine was left with a low compression head.

Hi Tommy,

10° before TDC at idle and no vacuum has worked perfect for me.
