Odometer counting double 200 1993

Sometimes, I think she's just having a nice old Swedish laugh at me. After following advice and great photos from BB contributors, I successfully fixed a dead odometer a couple thousand miles ago with a soldering iron. She ticked over a third of a million to much rejoicing, then... Seems to be counting double miles since! The last tank came out to nearly 40mpg.

I can't find any examples online of this. Speedo's normal. What's my best course of action here?

Thanks!

So that the archives might be correct, I respond with this humbling post. As usual, the obvious solution was the correct one: I skipped a fuel log entry. I stubbornly refused to believe it, but mrs. joe b in pdx produced the text message she'd sent me with the intermediate fill up details. Then, she'd done some extra miles last week when I thought I'd caught it red digit-ed. Laugh out loud if you must, but the hunt for 400k is officially back on!

I will admit you had me laughing out loud, but mostly in relief. Before that revelation, I was stumped, without anything of value to contribute. It is a lesson in Occam's Razor.

Exactly the kind of mystery I often cause myself.
