Where does the white wire go?? tranmission solenoid white wire ends where? 200

Car facts:
1993 Volvo 245 wagon / automatic

Volvo people need your advice. My husband is having to replace the solenoid down by the transmission. We know there is a white wire that is most likely broken and needing to be replaced that goes up into the gear box. Is this white wire attached to any specific part? Or part of a specific part. Or just a connection wire. Also length and maybe gauge of wire if you know before he tears into the shifter. It would be nice to have everything to put it back together right away. :-) Basically where does the white wire from the solenoid end up? Is there a specific part name for it?

Hi Kate and Husband and your 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon with AW-7x Auto Transmission:

    Wiring Diagrams

Find the 240 directory and then find the 1993 240 PDF file. Download for your reference.

Also, the FAQ AW-70 (auto transmission) page (see FAQ at the top of each page) as information that may help you, in your case, wiring to the overdrive solenoid.

Any patch of the wiring you perform should survive undercar conditions. Also, note how the overdrive solenoid wiring is secured along the route to the over drive solenoid contacts. Use quality spade terminals to secure to the solenoid using the gauge wire Eric Planetman indicates.

    Hope that helps.

The wire from the overdrive solenoid is connected to a white wire that goes to the overdrive relay which is mounted behind right side of the center console via 2 different connectors and passes into the car through the shifter housing, but does not connect to the shifter.

Use 16 gauge wire if you have to patch/replace the white wire.
