Volvo 960 Fuel Pump Retaining Nut 900

Does anyone have a factory nut wrench for this plastic nut that holds down the fuel pump and sending unit? I'll buy, borrow or rent the tool if anybody has one. Leads or alternative solutions appreciated.

Volvo 960 Fuel Pump Retaining Nut 900

Dear 2720r,

Hope you're well. Please state the specific model and year. Over a short space of time of time, Volvo used: (a) single in-tank fuel pump (Rex-Regina 940, '93-'95, '95 and later 960s,S90/V90)); (b) a dual pump system (Bosch only up to and including '94, with main pump mounted on the under-body and a "pre-pump" mounted in the fuel tank.

There probably is a Volvo tool to remove the approximately 6" diameter black plastic locking ring, that secures to the fuel tank, the in-tank fuel pump and fuel gauge send unit.

The locking ring can be loosened by repeated gentle taps with a block of wood and a mallot. I would NOT use any steel tool directly on this locking ring.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
