Bashed door won't open 700 1991

My son's friend was driving my 740 and scraped the rear door on my house (why he didn't stop when he first heard the scraping I will never know). Also broke the rear door handle. Got a guy to pull out the dent and was able to open the door (like 9 mos.ago!). Finally got around to buying a new handle and now I can't open the door. It doesn't look like it's completely unlocking. Am I able to pull off the door panel with the door closed? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Study the door on the other side.

If I remember correctly, there are 4 buttons on the bottom of the door that have to be removed and a couple of screws in the door - one on the speaker I think. I also think that you have to remove the surround for the door handle

If you remove the rear seat bottom, I think that you can remove the buttons and screws and pull the panel up and off.

Do the other side door first.

Consider cleaning the window switches while the doors are apart. That is in the FAQ. My front windows were slow going up - I cleaned the contacts in all the switches and reversed the brass parts as the up contacts were worn - the windows were good as new - I did all 4 doors in less than 2 hours.

Read the FAQ - I'm pretty sure it covers door panel removal.Info, it might be in the Haynes manual - I found the instructions somewhere.

The link rod which connects from the push/pull locking knob to the door latch, runs through a plastic guide. The plastic guide is in approximate center of the door, and is U shaped. The link rod snaps into the plastic guide. If the link rod comes out of the guide, the link rod will flex enough that it won't unlock the latch. You may be able to roll the window down and look for the rod. I don't remember the exact details, but this is how I opened the stuck rear door on my brother-in-laws 745.

If you take the door panel off the working rear door and see what I am writing about. The plastic clips at the bottom of the door panel can't be removed with the door in place.
