Cam decision 900

Hi everyone,
I'm rebuilding my B230FT (automatic) and am looking for some more power in general.
I do not want to lose any low end but wouldn't mind a boost in the mid- to upper end.
I've read comments across various forums and seem to be getting mixed messages aka A, B, T, VX & IPD cams.
It will be a daily driver, not a racer, just want some more oomph.
I plan on a Cometic head gasket and have the opportunity to switch cams if it is a smart move.
Anyone have experience in what I am describing?
What I seem to be finding is that the IPD cam trades upper end performance at the expense of the low end but you can move the power band down somewhat by playing with the cam advance (true for most of the aforementioned cams).
Just looking for some real-world experience before I make a decision.
Thanks in advance...

Hi rjk2,

I suggest to ask this question in turbobricks.com. I have no real world experience in modding 940 except adding a VX cam in my NA car. All my other engine parts are stock. You might need to go the K&N air filter, Megasquirt wasted spark, high flow injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and bigger exhaust pipe pathway. Or you could install a B234 twin-cam head with the turbo. With this additional power you might need to install stiffer suspension (read: sport lowered springs with stiffer dampers - Koni etc) as to have better body control. Remember to upgrade the brakes and braces for the body too.

The car was designed as a system. You can't upgrade much part of the system without upgrading other parts too.

Regards,
Amarin.

imo it's a waste of time and money

with that out of the way, any cam you select will likely NOT have the preparation on the back end of the cam for a head driven distributor.

the cams you mention will be in most cases set for block driven timing.
