b234f Exhaust Performance 700

Does anyone have any suggestions for modifying performance or anything beyond stock OEM for the b34f n/a exhaust system?

I have sided with, stick stock... I am preparing for replacing the exhaust manifold and header down pipe with OEM. Wondered if switching to, perhaps, a turbo cat-converter could be a benefit, or what to do with the exhaust system to enhance performance and create a sweeter tone to the sound of the exhaust, from the down pipe backwards.

Thanks, hope this is not too wrong to ask.

IPD sell a cat-back "turbo" set of pipes and muffler for N/A 240's that may give the sound you want. Give them a call and see if their setup will fit on your B234. Contact info at www.ipdusa.com

Buy a Soundracer - http://www.soundracer.se/?p=98 - see a testimonial of a driver who made his Mini sound like a V-8.

Many new cars have electronic and mechanical systems to make the sound better in the cockpit. Do a search for - engine sound enhancement - and you will see quite a list.

I think that Volvos, especially later models are pretty well tuned. Many things that you might do to tweak the engine may actually cause it to put out less power.

For example, I see people who want to add a aftermarket air filter to an 850 - when I look at the air intake on my '96 855R and see that the horn is only 2x4 inches - it IS cold air.
