Experimental Volvo engine?

Has anyone here ever heard of an experimental rally engine that was: supercharged, 4-cylinder, 3.8 liter, made by Volvo in 1991?

Rather huge displacement for a 4-cylinder engine.

I'd searched using Bing and Google and no such mention. Well, did not try so exhaustively.

Where do you hear or read about such an engine? Maybe a tall and / or big bore 4-cylinder diesel or octane engine for use in trucks?

Or maybe something Volvo Penta? Thought that would be a V8 or maybe a 6-cylinder?

Don't think you can physically get the bore and stroke required to achieve that displacement out of the Volvo block...do the math. Would take something close to a 4" bore and 4.5" stroke.

3.8L is about 1/2 of a 454 Chevy - which had a 4.25" bore x 4" stroke --- I'm not aware of any automotive 4 banger block that will accommodate bores and strokes of those dimensions.
