I would like to know if there are any vintage Volvo's (544-122-1800) in Hawaii, especially on the big island. I know rust is an issue there, so if I decide to move over there would it be hard to find a decent daily-driver project. or should I plan on shipping one from the mainland? I thought perhaps a current or former resident might have a clue. Thanks

Check IPDusa.com They have a customer profile/classic area. Was a nicely done 544 profile the a year or 2 ago. Car was done in flat -black pro-job, 16 inch steel wheels, a Mustang II R&P front suspension,3.1 GM V6 w/ 5-SPD. nice build, stock appearing and lives in Hawaii. That's 2

I know of one four door 122, which I saw about three years ago. It is owned by the lady who owns (with her husband) the Keauhou Store, which is a little south of Kona. She uses it, or did, as her daily driver. She bought it from someone in the greater Seattle and had it shipped to Hawaii. Thea would be a good source of information. I spent a good bit of time on Maui over the last 30 years and never saw many old Volvos, a few 240's. There are no junk yards and old wrecks tend to get crushed and scrapped.

I have to tell you a funny story. Since I have never been to Hawaii,
I asked a guy in our Volvo club (who has been there many times) to
recommend an island to visit. He said "what are you interested in
seeing?" I answered: " I would like to visit the island with the
most Volvos!"

I am familiar with this video, including John and his watch brand. Bathys is a well respected micro brand in the watch community. He is developing an atomic watch powered by Cesium 133 isotope. Someday it might become somewhat affordable!
