Pulling off the Chrysler ICM Connector- what do I need to know 200 1982

Hey all-

I'd like to pull the currently zip tied connector off of my Chrysler box and do a little bit of spring cleaning, tightening connections and reapplication of dielectric grease.

I guess I have 3 questions-

1. Is the box going to be wrecked if I pull the connector?

2. Do I just need some of those special sleeves for reinstalling the connector and all will be well again?

3... Anything else I'm missing? How dumb of an idea is this?

Thanks Art :)

I also haven't pulled the connector off quite yet.

I think you already know everything you need to know about it.

My theory behind the dire warnings is Volvo got the connectors wrong when they sourced the harness to be used with Chrysler's control unit. Just slightly too big with insufficient contact wipe and plating for the low-voltage low-current Hall sender circuits in an unfriendly environment. The sleeves both renewed and improved contact resistance degradation.

Nothing special to anyone familiar with electrical issues, but somewhat of a challenge to those to whom it is all about swapping black boxes. Your plan sounds perfect to me. You won't ruin the box.
