1982 LH1.0 Fuel Rail- How bad are these hoses? 200 1982

Hey all-

I was going through and cleaning up some grounds today- this is a very new car to me- and noticed a large hose coming off the fuel rail was loose- I can slide it back and forth pretty easily and there is no clamp on it either.

It looks like it's the hose coming from the tank from the LH1.0 volvo green book (see image below), but is there a hard plastic line under this rubber? I'm a little scared to pull it back too much.

Additionally, there are these short rubber hoses between the fuel rail and the injectors- see the item circled in the image below- mine are REALLY cracked and are surely leaking air, but are they just providing a shield to what's underneath? What is underneath? It's pretty vague in both the green book as well as the Haynes/Bentley for the LH1.0 injection system.

you are correct about the hose from the tank, it's plastic w/rubber outside.

the injector hoses should be replaced, it's just hose. the rings you see are the clamps. they have to be ground or somehow cut off and then replaced with hose clamps. make sure you get injection hose, not just fuel hose. use this type clamps-

    good luck, chuck.

You inspired me to pull out the snips and go to town. I basically just cut right in the middle of the hose, unbolted the 10mm injector mount and pulled the whole injector out by the end of the hose and went inside (it's about 14 degrees outside here).

After carefully going at the injector with an xacto, I was able to take a tiny screwdriver and start prying the end of the hose out of the ridiculous bell-shaped crimp. There is a nice barbed end to the injector. Of course, these don't look anything like any of the LH2.0+ injectors... do you think any of the IPD/FCP rubber replacement kits might fit? It looks like there are only 2 o-ringish things- a smaller (what possibly used to be a ring 30 years ago) ring and about a 1/4" thick ring in the middle of the injector (looks like vibration control/allows it to be held in place by the mount).

Okay, I think I've found the answer to my own question. There's an EXCELLENT diagram of the LH 1.0 injection system and parts at this page (for anyone that finds this in the future):

See image below of my actual hoses (and nasty biodegrading harness):

1982 LH1.0 Fuel Rail- Replacing Injector Seals and Nasty Rubber Lines (solved) 200 1982

      Hey all-

this is just sort of a 'conclusion' for anyone out there that comes across this issue, but I ended up finding a really decent set (exact fit) of injector seals/injector mount o-rings at NAPA of all places. The entire set for all 4 injectors was about 4$ total.

I used a combination of xacto knife, pliers, a tiny screw driver and tin snips and slowly sliced off the old rubber and used the tin snips to trim back those weird bell shaped clamps, and worked the tiny screwdriver as far in as possible to pry out the rubber. Once you get some of the rubber out, you can pull it all the way out of the bell clamp and the clamps just fall off. I used scotch brite to clean up the brass nipples.

I also used a q-tip and carefully cleaned out the rail side on the injector- they had some crap in there, and just used some spit and papertowel to clean some carbon buildup off the injector head.

I used some injector clamps and I think it was 5/16" Gates Barricade (high quality) rubber fuel injector line, trimmed it to the right size (compared it to the old one) and popped everything into place using a little vaseline. Car is running *substantially* better now.
