I have two issues with my '97 V90 shifter. I can move the shifter at any time without pressing the override button. I can also start it in gear, so something is broken. The light for the shift position also does not work. I'd like to undertake the repair of both so I would appreciate any tips on what parts I may need to I can make sure they are available.

I have a 95 960 sedan that I could use for parts but it looks like it may be different.

I bought a used shifter. The lockout solenoid failed and was disabled and the ribbon cable for the shift position lights was yanked out due to inexperience. I had forgotten about the lockout problem that was probably 10 years ago. my mechanic remembered and he probably damaged the ribbon cable at the time.
