O2 sensor Reading all zeros can't seem to find the cure S90-V90

Haven't been by in a long while. "HI All"

Second hand question . Some details are unclear but here goes.
S90 with 2.9 engine.
Bank 1 (rear) O2 sensor is reading all zeros (not sure if that's voltage or the 'P' code) He replaced the O2 sensor with no change. he replaced the Computer with no change. He is unable to clear the codes.

Any thoughts?

That is normal. Somewhere we read that the rear sensor is not supported by OBDII on that car.

The car will never clear all the monitors, either. Mine passes OBD II emissions with 6 incompletes so there is a waiver built right into the system. Some states will do a tailpipe test, according to research. CA, NY, NJ, all have waivers.

I spend a couple of days running a very detailed drive cycle to clear the monitors and finally said screw it, I am going to go and get it failed. I had the station pull up my previous test and *boom* 6 incompletes and it passed. Only three complete monitors.

So you are saying that my friends Customer should just accept the Check Engine light on the dash to be on all the time? That really doesn't sound right. Is there a Manufacturer Bulletin on this?

All zeros on the rear sensor does not trip my check engine light.

I did not notice this until I have a misfire code due to a failed coil pack. We cleared the code and because I had an emissions test due, we checked the readiness and noticed that the rear sensor was all zeros. I replaced the pair of sensors and it was a bear of a job because the threads galled on the front one and we had to torch it for every turn back out. The special sensor socket spread open, just a pain. Then we had to tap the hole and fortunately we were able to save it without welding on a bung. Turns out it was a wasted time and money job as the new sensor did the same thing- all zeros.

I was out running the elaborate monitor-clearing cycle (for the third time) and the car smelled like tranny fluid. up on the lift and I had a blown line- it had rotted out above the cat. I was lucky it did not catch on fire. I have JUST bought a spare engine and trans for $50 and used the line from that. It already does not owe me any money! The reason I mention this is the down pipe had to come out to do this job, so I would have been wrestling with and replacing sensors anyway.

Usually when you can not clear a code it means the wire is broken some where. You need to check the wires first.
