Snow Tire Advice

Hi Everyone,

I'd been running two studded snow tires on my rear wheels for a couple winters, and finally got around to getting two more (matching, but not studded) snow tires and 4 steel rims this year. My question is, what orientation should these tires be mounted? Should I have the worn tires' studs removed and put them up front? Stud the new tires? Looking for advice.

Thanks,
Justin

well if you have only been running those studded snows for 2 winters i would leave them on the rear. they can't be that worn yet? the studs help on ice so i would definitely want them on a drive wheel.

While there is certainly tread left on the old tires, the difference between old and new is quite noticeable.

I agree with Silvermine, I would leave the studded tires on the drive wheels.

OTOH - If you decide to remove the studs from the old tires then I would switch them to the front.
