Have any of you good folks used an "icarsoft vol 2" obd code reader on a S/v90?
If so, could you read SRS codes?

The (some) 1995 and (all) 1996 model year Volvo automobiles come equipped with OBD-II with a data port to scan for codes and reset them after, presumably, the fault cause is repaired. OBD-II has change and evolved and is not an extensible messaging format.

So, what year 960 / S90 / V90?

I'll guess this iCarsoft OBD-II reader provides the Volvo OBD-II fault code schema versus the generic ISO and industry standard of the time. Several new standards are in force with newer OBD-II messaging schemas may put some doubt whether the iCarsoft reader is 'fully backward compatible' with your model year 960 / S90 / V90. Volvo is not forthcoming with their side of the data port in messaging and message format for early and even current OBD-II.

The iCarsoft ad copy list support for OBDII-16 DLC. This specification is too new for your 960 / S90 / V90. While the messaging protcocol may be the same, the physical connection may not work for these two iCarsoft OBD-II code scanners for your model year Volvo auto.

Again, please see the OBD-II info link in the Volvo 700-900-90 series for your model year Volvo.

For generic OBD-II code reader you can use free at many auto parts store including AutoZone:

What was the response from iCarsoft?

Like all OPBD II 960 / 90 and FWD also?

Want to know. The generic OBD code scanners leave not much to accuracy with their general codes.
