power steering leak 700 1990

Have noticed a weekly adding fluid to the power steering tank where to look? Steering Rack?

Start at the top and work your way down. Front seal on pump (drip behind pulley)? Banjo fitting for the high pressure hose at back of pump and at the rack. The hoses themselves can become porous. Pinion seal of rack. The hard lines at the rack. Dripping from the tie rod boots. A rack that leaks at the end seals may not show signs until the boots are filled--you may have to loosen the rack end of the boots to really know. Leave cardboard under the front to help find a leak. -- Dave

If the leaks not too bad, try a bottle of "Lucas" brand power steering conditioner. $8 - $10. Flush the system first until clean, then add the "Lucas".
Check high pressure hose for leaking before adding lucas. If hose checks good, then add Lucas.

Or flush and switch to synthetic. That stopped a minor leak in my 850's steering rack's seals.

However, based on the OP's comments of having to add fluid weekly I seriously doubt any flush will work....:)
