bolts for ps belt tension adjusting 200

1992 245 at/ps/ac/cc/ noticed some belt squealing, examined and found 2 bolts /nut GONE , unaware they were even loose. They kept the tension on the belt by PS fluid res. Don't find them, need a set of used bolts, or description 12x14, etc. to buy, dealer says bigger one NLA, other one back order. Ideas? Thanks! Indianapolis.

Hi,

Does this bracket contain the bolts your speaking of ?

Eeuroparts-item #1346149

If you can specify exactly which ones or take a pic (which would be ideal) I can measure everything up for you including thread size with a thread gauge. Then you can check hardware store, tractor supply and if none of those have what you need you can probably get what you need from McMaster.

Hope that helps,

Travis

I think the parts that you are missing are the long 6mm bolt that adjusts the tension and the short 8mm bolt (and nut) with a long head that 6mm bolt threads into and holds the adjustment.

If you can't find one in a junkyard you may have to fabricate the special 8mm bolt or drill and tap a block for the 6mm bolt to thread into and be captured by the 8mm bolt. I'd check the junkyard but around here most of the 240s are long gone.

Try a local Hardware store that carries Metric fasteners...

Hi:
thanks for the answer. I'll probably have to go to pick a part, or find somebody on here who can sell me something from a parts car. I have no idea how stuff came loose, clearly from PO, and without seeing the missing parts cannot find the size. Hardware stores rarely have the CORRECT STRENGTH bolts, often marked on metric head by 8.8 or 12.8, and rarely have the correct threading and non threaded area. There are a lot more specs involved in hardware than just the bolt head size. I did go to Volvo dealer, miles away, and one part is not available from Volvo anywhere, and another is special order, AND of course they cannot describe the part numbers etc. IIRC year ago I bought the factory BMW fiche (special order from Schorch Meyer in Munich)and all bolts had parts numbers and specs, Volvo don't, no idea if BMW still do. I know locktite Blue will be on my next repair, although I have never had this problem before.
