Need seat removal help. 444-544

I've been trying to remove the factory front seats out of my pv444.I've another set of pv444 seats so I know the rail is riveted to the bottom of the seats. The track screws to the mounts on the floor. There are several screws in the track under the seat with no access to them. Are the seats supposed to slide off the tracks to remove.I've tried sliding them backward off the track with no success.Any and all help needed and appreciated.

Greg

if you decide to change seats as another BB'er suggested, I put electric 850 seats in my '64 544 - easy job. BTW - after you take the sides off 850 seats can be lowered almost 3 inches - you do lose some adjustment. I actually could have saved the side airbags.

The rule of the junkyard - supply and demand - look for the latest model that they have a lot on hand. Older seats in good shape are dear. I chose cloth seats from a car with the windows intact - they are in great shape.

Eric and Dylan are right. I've done it a million times. Ever thought about replacing them with seats that have headrests? I've heard Miata Seats work great with little modification. I've tried the local junk yards, but by the time i get there, the seats have already been removed for me to take measurements. What about the 240 series seats, or are they too wide?

Slide the seats all the way forward. They will come out!

The drivers seat can be a bit challenging, but it's not impossible.

    Good luck!

    Greg,

    Dude, you were so close.

The seats are removed by sliding them forward off the tracks, not backwards.

    Good luck!
