¿ Are 1993 240 Rear Brake Pads Unique ? 200

I went to order some new rear brake pads for a 1993 240. I couldn't find the pads on TASCA's site, so I punched in the OE number gleaned from FCP Groton. A message popped up on the TASCA order which said the part would not fit my '93. Also, what appears to be a kosher part number for the '93 is NLA.

I've been working under the impression for many years that ALL 240's used the same ATE calipers and pads in the rear.

Does the '93 ABS system require a different rear pad composition and, more importantly, while the pads from earlier model years will fit, are they a compromise?

Thanks, one and all,

Rich (near The Burgh)

No, not unique.

volvo 940 (fixed axle models) rear brake pads are the same as on a 240. the calipers are bit different but the pads are interchangeable.

Looks like the original part number has been superseded a few times. The original number, 271702, was superseded by 270166 and again by 31261185. Try Tasca again.

Thanks, RonJ. It might just be a data entry error.

The result for P/N 271702 @ TASCA is 31261185, but with the same message that it does not fit my '93. At volvopartswebstore.com, another superseded P/N, 272877, is added to the mix.

Just to confuse things more, 272877 is available at TASCA, but at a different price and no mention of fitment.

Screw it, I'll just order from FCP; I end up there often enough anyway just to find P/N's which do not show up at TASCA.
