N/A in line fuel pump in a turbo car? 700

Hi everyone,

I believe, but am not completely sure, that aleekat gave me the go ahead for this type of situation. But maybe he was only talking about the in tank pump, not sure.

Have a stock 1988 745 turbo, b230ft, lh 2.2. Sees at most 10psi of boost but usually much less.

Had a Delphi in line fuel pump quit on my and needed a replacement to get me by. So I pulled a Bosch 0 580 494 039 in line fuel pump out of a n/a 1990 245 DL. And the 0 580 494 039 was superseded by 0580 494 068.

The car drives and boosts seemingly fine, but I am worried about running out of fuel in higher boost. Only boosted to 5psi on my test drive.

Will this n/a pump be just fine for my car? E.g. will I have enough fuel pressure and flow to run 10psi in a b230ft?

Thanks for any help

Stock 242DL intank and inline pumps powered the 5.0L V8 in mine at varying HP levels from 225 to 340 without protest for 15 years.

I'm pretty sure even though most parts stores list a different part number for N/A and Turbo. When I converted mine n/a to turbo. I got a turbo pump. But comparing the printing on the pumps. The output pressure was the same. I do know the fuel pressure regulators are different. 2.5 vs 3.0 bar

      Hi aleekat and thank you,

Yeah Ipd lists the turbo pump PN as a cross reference for the na pump. But I wasn't too sure and wanted to double check. Couldn't find flow, pressure specs.

      Thanks again.

And for future reference: the Delhi (Im pretty sure it was a Delphi) in line pump that failed on me was loud as heck ever since I got the car. Surprised it lasted as long as it did. The junkyard pump is silent to my ears.

Pump free run around 100 psi. Regulated with a fuel pressure regulator. Change the regulator with an adjustable one.
