Intermittent 1-3-1 Code Revisited FIXED 200

Hi Folks,
I was getting a CEL and 1-3-1 code once in awhile... About every 6th time I'd start the car. Swapped the CPS, sprayed Deoxit on the sockets and couldn't kick it.

Well, it is gone.

I had an exhaust leak. Fixed the exhaust leak, and now no more CEL and 1-3-1 code. ???

Dunno exactly why, but there it is.

Just thought I'd add this to the body of 240 info.

Bert

Intermittent 1-3-1 Code Revisited FIXED 200

Hi Bert,

When pulling up stored info from your OBD, did you check for multiple codes ?

The reason I ask is because fault code 1-3-1 is not supposed to activate the CEL.

Both 240's that I have on the road developed exhaust leaks this past summer when their brackets that connect the header pipe to the transmission rusted off. In both cases the engines ran rich, the CEL came on and I got code 1-1-3.

Is it possible you may have had a 1-1-3 stuck behind that 1-3-1 ?

Regards, Peter

Intermittent 1-3-1 Code Revisited FIXED 200

Good point Peter.

I may have the codes numbers mixed up... I was getting a CEL and OBD code that I thought was bad CPS signal. I was repeating the test to look for more codes, and didn't find any.

Not getting a codes now, which is always good.

Bert
